Welcome to the 1st NCCET Academy! The Academy is designed to offer our NCCET members a quality, very affordable, more intimate training intensive designed for all levels of community college professionals seeking to advance their skill-sets and experiences. Unlike at our annual conference, these tracks are 2 full days in length offering participants the opportunity to dig-in, learn, and take away tools for immediate use and success. It's going to be just amazing!

For 2019, we are offering two incredible workshops to choose from!

 

The first track is Six Steps to Building an Engaging Workforce and Developing a More Productive Organization

Recurring communication challenges in the workplace can increase turnover and lead to costly mistakes! Large corporations know this can negatively affect their profits. What about educational institutions? Largely it goes unchecked. Many academic institutions are made up of faculty and staff that are immune from profit and loss exposure experienced by business and industry. However, it is still just as deadly if not to a greater extent. Colleges train our leaders of tomorrow and cannot afford to produce less than excellence. Focus is placed on curriculum design more than interdepartmental communications adversely impacting the institution, the students, community branding, opportunities for innovative approaches and more!

 

Effective communication is at the heart of success in any organization. Whether you are communicating within your organization, or with clients, it is imperative to gain support and build consensus. This interactive two-day intensive professional development class, led by community college leaders, will take you through six steps to building an engaging workforce and developing a more productive community college. 

The second track is Being Bold and Living the "Community College" Dream

At the NCCET 2018 Annual Conference in San Antonio, Bryan Daniel, Executive Director for Economic Development for the State of Texas, said that “attitude, motivation, and aptitude are critical” to the core mission of community colleges. He went on to say that a central issue is change and that fear is a major obstacle to managing change. In order to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world, those who serve the community college world need tools, techniques, and strategies to address the fear of change, improve their processes, and interact more effectively with colleagues and clientele.

 

This two-day leadership class will address a range of topics including managing fear, improving emotional intelligence, handling stress, increasing productivity, and interacting effectively with difficult people. Attendees will receive practical tools, techniques, and strategies that can be implemented immediately. In addition, attendees will receive a copy of the book Overcoming Fear: 50 Lessons on Being Bold and Living the Dream as well as weekly email refreshers for a period of three months so that the impact of the training is not lost upon conclusion of the track. This track takes a holistic approach to the topics listed above, demonstrating how they are all interconnected.

Both tracks are being presented by known quality, expert professionals in the field.  Because we are so confident in their instruction ability, if you are not happy with your training at the end of the two days we will refund your registration fee, no questions asked.
